Be wary of IRS Tax Scams (phishing scam)
The IRS today warned taxpayers to watch out for fake emails and fake websites!
IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said: "The IRS won't send you an email ablout a bill or refund out of the blue. Don't click on one claiming to be from the IRS!"
If you receie an unsolicited email that appears to be from the IRS or from the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS), report it to phishing@irs.gov
In summary, the IRS generally does NOT contact taxpayers by text message or through social media channels requesting personal or financial information!
