Some TurboTax filers had refunds stolen after filing
On March 25, 2015, Washington Post columnist Jonelle Marte, wrote an aritcle titled: "Some TurboTax customers had refunds stolen after they filed".
Ms. Marte reported the following:
-Intuit, the maker of TurboTax, stated between 24 and 40 taxpayers , have had their refunds stolen after they filed, and the IRS accepted their return.
-Intuit works with the Green Dot Corporation, a bank which works with tax preparation firms.
-Green Dot Corporation owns the Tax Products Group, which processes TurboTax fees, and then deposits refunds into taxpayer accounts.
-Tax fraud resulted in at least these 24 to 40 taxpayers, having their refunds redeposited into a fraudulent bank account.
The FBI, the Justice Department have started to investigate tax fraud.
