Accepted IRS OIC statistics for fiscal year 2013

The IRS has announced their offer in compromise statistics for the twelve months ending September 30, 2013.

For the period of October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013 the IRS received 69,675 Offer(s) in Copmpromise.

The IRS accepted 30,839 for an acceptance rate of 44.3%.

This means that the IRS rejected 55.7% of the submitted Offer in Compromise for the 12 months ending 09-30-2013.

As the IRS rejected almost 6 out of 10 Offer in Comrpomise, I recommend being very cautious and careful, in regard to national tax representation firms.

The national tax representation firms advertise aggressively, with their ads misrepresenting the ease of accepted Offer in Compromise.

I represent my clients in the Offer in Compromise process explaining all details of the Offer in Compromise process.

In summary, in regard to national tax representaion firms, let the buyer beware (in Latin: caveat emptor).
