IRS joins other Federal Agencies with Cellphone Surveillance Technology
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has joined at least thirteen (13) federal agencies now using surveillance technolgy known as "STINGRAY".
This information was obtained by The Guardian newspaper under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
'STINGRAY" technology mimics cellphone towers, and are also known as 'cell site simulators' ir "IMSI catchers'.
It is not known how the IRS Criminal Investigation Division (CID) will use this technology to track taxpayers' cell phone comversations.
